Kunjukrishnan Nadar Memorial Educational and Cultural Society is an Organization registered under the 12th Travancore-Cochin Literacy, scientific and charitable societies registration Act, 1955.The role played by voluntary organizations in the country’s development process is unique. In this way, the Kunjukrishnan Nadar Memorial Educational and Cultural society becomes a continuous link in the development process. Bringing backward communities, especial the Nadar Community, into the main stream activities of the society is also one of the organization’s mainstream initiatives.

M. KUNJUKRISHNAN NADAR

M. Kunjukrishnan Nadar (1911–1978) was a distinguished Indian politician and a three-time Member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly (KLA).A prominent public figure, he was recognized for his dedicated representation of the Parassala and Kovalam constituencies. Beyond his legislative service, Mr. Kunjukrishnan Nadar held significant leadership roles at both the local and state levels, contributing substantially to public affairs. His enduring legacy in promoting education and community welfare is honored by the establishment of the Kunjukrishnan Nadar Memorial (K.N.M.) Government Arts and Science College in Kanjiramkulam, which was named in his memory.

  • Family: He was the son of Mallan Nadar.
  • Education: Kunjukrishnan Nadar completed his matriculation.
  • Died: August 15, 1978, while still serving as a member of the legislative assembly.

Political career

Kunjukrishnan Nadar's political career spanned several decades, during which he represented different parties and constituencies.

 

Kerala Legislative Assembly

  • 1st KLA (1957–1959): Represented the Parassala constituency for the Indian National Congress (INC).
  • 2nd KLA (1960–1964): Re-elected to represent Parassala, this time as an independent candidate.
  • 4th KLA (1970–1974): Represented the Kovalam constituency for the Communist Socialist Party (CSP). A case was filed after he resigned from the legislative assembly, but the resignation was later declared null and void.
  • 5th KLA (1977–1978): Elected to represent the Parassala constituency for the INC. He passed away in office during this term.

Other positions

  • Kanjiramkulam Grama Panchayat: Served as the President.
  • Kerala Craft Development Board: Served as the Chairman.
  • Kerala Nadar Mahajana Sanghom: A member of this organization.
  • Dakshina Indian Kalari Payattu Marma Association: A member of this association.

 

Legacy and memorial

  • Kunjukrishnan Nadar Memorial (K.N.M.) Government Arts and Science College: In 1982, the Government of Kerala established this college in Kanjiramkulam, fulfilling Nadar's long-cherished dream of a higher education institution in the area.
  • Literary work: He authored a publication titled Marmashastra Peedika.
